Breaking Down the Walls at Kota Damansara

Khartoum last week - nearing dusk, I caught this nice pic of blue skies and 'habub'. There hasn't been a sand storm for some time, on accord of the coming rainy season

Continuing on from the previous post...

I've had a sucky day - I'm bored beyond belief, and just can't wait for my kids to run around here and for Ckn to be here and cook up something nice for me. Rest assured, I didn't sit around and mope all day long! I played at our weekly badminton meet; the difference this time is that I walked to the venue, which was about 2 km away. It helped - my mind was clearer and was warmed up for the games (well just a little...!)

Progress of Renovation

Since it'll be sometime before we move into our beautiful home in Kota Damansara, it's only prudent to do some of the renovation and preparatory works. We've always thought that the living/dining room downstairs could do with a bit of extra room, so we decided to do the ground floor and kitchen works in phase 1.

The Living/dining room before the renovation...

Here's a view of the works in progress - the kitchen wall will soon disappear

...and the same, circa last week

Luckily I have a good Project Management Consultant; Ckn! She has been dropping in to check up on the progress for the past 3 weeks. Together, we decided on the look of the kitchen (we wanted it to be open and practical) and living room (cosy) and the dining area, and the electrical circuits for the lights and power points. The 2 major parts of the works, includes what you see here; ie resizing the living room and storage room. The second is to extend the kitchen to the back yard.

From what I'm seeing so far, I'm quite pleased with the progress. To draw the plans in Photoshop and seeing it being translated into reality is a joy! I think I now know how architects feel when their creation comes alive (for me it was just some walls up here and there, so of course my accomplishments are minute, comparing!)

Once this phase is completed, I'll have all the windows and outside doors grilled and locked up - it'll be like a bear in winter hibernating! Hopefully, we'll move on to Phase 2 in the coming year - and I can't wait to design our interior decorating...

P/s Blogger is real cool - it has a spellcheck now!
